Available base rail colours. Anodised silver is BQ standard.
Self fabric pocket with lathe inserted
A modern blind style with horizontal seams sewn in face fabric at all folds and visible at the intermediate (base edge of each stack) when the blind is raised. This style is recommended if a structured unlined blind is required, or if a lined blind is required and a sheer or lightweight fabric is used, or a lined blind style with horizontal seams is preferred.
This blind style is ideal for wider width windows if you’d like to avoid vertical fabric joins.
For an unlined RB4 blind, battens are sewn into back pockets of the main fabric at the base and top of each stack, giving the blind more structure than our other unlined blind styles RB6 and RB8. Side turns/hems can be sewn on request, if prefer to avoid tape used to secure fabric.
For a lined RB4 blind, battens are sewn into the lining at the base and top of each stack.

For a simpler, more modern pleat try a Top Pinch Pleat with pleats pinched at the top edge of the curtain in groups of two or three with spacing approximately 10cm apart.
Top Pinch Pleat is also sometimes called a Euro Pleat or Brisby Pleat.
BQ uses 100mm wide buckram for the curtain heading.
Inverted Pleat curtains are also known as a reverse pleat or box pleat and offers a contemporary look. This curtain style does not stack back as comprehensively as other styles. Evo curtains offer a similar heading style with a more condensed stack back.
BQ uses 100mm wide buckram for the curtain heading.
Gathered curtains are made with a heading tape that enables the fabric to be gathered up to create loose pleats.
BQ uses 30mm wide heading tape for each row of gathering.
Design your curtain with one, two or three rows of gathering tape depending on the heading look required. One row of gathering is the BQ standard.
Multiple rows of gathering offer more flexibility with hook positions providing greater control over where the heading sits in relation to the rod or track.

Goblet pleat curtains provide a formal style. If you are furnishing a traditional or stately old home and have a sumptuous fabric a Goblet style heading could be a good option.
BQ use 100mm wide clear buckram for the curtain heading and each goblet is filled with wadding.
Flat Panel curtains offer a simple and versatile curtain style. The curtain is made with a flat finish heading with no pleating or gathering. When the curtain is hung on a rod or track, curtains with a standard 1.5 fullness will sit in gentle waves. For an almost flat curtain with minimal or no wave when closed, request a low curtain fullness or for a curtain heading style with fuller loose waves request a higher curtain fullness.
Flat panel curtains are often used with a decorative rod with or without rings.
BQ uses a 100mm wide buckram for the curtain heading, creating a stiffer heading style than Scandi curtains.
Tab Top curtains are made with 50mm wide x 100mm high tab loops evenly spaced and sewn to curtain top. The tab loops are thread onto a curtain rod.
As an alternative to a gathered heading a Knife Pleat offers a neat and tailored look.
BQ uses 50mm wide gathering tape laid flat.
Evo curtains offers a similar look to Inverted Pleat curtains, although they are made with a single pleat at the back which enables the curtain to stack back efficiently to maximise the window vantage.
Evo curtains runs on a glide system and require an Evo rod. BQ supply two styles of glides suitable for Evo rods or supply your own glides.
BQ uses 90mm wide clear buckram for an Evo curtain heading.
A relaxed and modern heading style with gentle irregular folds. The curtain is made with a flat finish heading with no pleating or gathering.
BQ uses a soft 75mm wide white heading tape, with clear tape available on request.
An unstructured minimalist heading style with soft loose folds.
Similar to a Flat Panel curtain but made with a discreet 100mm wide heading without the stiff buckram heading tape.
Ripplefold curtains are a contemporary and popular curtain style with neat and simple uniform folds. The curtains are made with a 30mm wide press stud heading tape provided by our customer.
They are installed with a ripplefold track or rod installed above the window or on the ceiling.
Rod Pocket curtains are a simple, easy to hang curtain, made with a sewn in pocket at the top of each curtain, to allow a curtain rod to be threaded through.
A Pencil Pleat is similar to a gathered curtain in that a heading tape of one or multiple rows can be applied to gather the fabric into pencil style pleats. The main difference is the pencil pleat heading tape is 75mm wide instead of 30mm for gathered curtains, which creates a neater and more stable pleat.
BQ uses white fabric gathering tape with or nylon transparent gathering tape for very sheer fabrics, is available on request.
Eyelet curtains are made with individual metal eyelet rings punched through the fabric. Eyelet sizes come in a 60mm external diameter and 40mm internal diameter. The 40mm internal diameter best suits a 25mm curtain rod.
BQ supply a nickel plated (silver) steel eyelet as our standard or zinc, brass, antique brass or black eyelets can be used on request.
Wave curtains are similar to ripplefold curtains although they are made with a wider 80mm heading tape, provided by our customer and suitable for plastic hooks.
They are installed with a wave curtain track or rod.
Standard tieback height is 13cm and width depends on curtain width. Please specify if alternate height or non standard shape required.
-Headrail : 42mm
-Cord lock : 30mm
-Pulley only (no cord lock) : 20mm
-Acmeda headrail motor-42mm
-All other motorisation systems – 80mm
Used for cord operated roman blinds to lock the blind into the desired position, rather than relying on the cleat. Activate or release lock by tugging cord. BQ use a heavy duty locking mechanism. A minimum headboard projection of 30mm is required when a cord lock is installed. Please note: Cord locks are not covered by BQ warranty and not recommended for blinds installed in window or ceiling recess, corners, under pelmets or butting bay windows, due to angle required to unlock the mechanism to release the cord.
Bonded blinds provide you with an opportunity to integrate plain or statement solid fabrics into your room.
The following fabrics are not suitable for bonded blinds: rayon/acetate, 100% polyester, sheers, linen, some silks, chintz, polypropylene, backcoated fabrics, velvets and fabrics with 40%+ viscose content. BQ prefers fabrics to have at least 50% cotton content. Your fabric can be tested for suitability prior to ordering.
Suitable blind fabrics are processed through our unique specifically designed oven to stabilise fabric and reduce movement after manufacturing.
For wider windows, vertical fabric joins will be sewn if required. We will always attempt to pattern match print fabrics to minimise exposure of fabric joins.
For multiple blinds in a room, print fabric will be pattern matched from base of blind. If butting or adjoining blinds are to have pattern flow please notify BQ and ensure enough fabric is provided.
An unstructured roman blind style made without battens that softly folds (rather than gathers as occurs with our soft gather roman blind) when the blind is raised.
When the blind is down it sits as a flat panel of fabric with no horizontal seams or gathering. Each fold is 150mm deep and the blind is finished with a fabric lathe base, 100mm standard side turns and discreet vertical stitch lines in colour matched thread align with the strings required for blind operation.

An unstructured roman blind style that gathers from the base when raised. No battens are added.
When blind is down three secured fabric gathers sit at base of blind. These gathers can be removed or reduced on request and less fabric will be required. Discreet vertical stitch lines in colour matched thread are present and align with strings for blind operation. Wide width blinds may have multiple evenly spaced vertical stitching lines where cords sit at back of blind. Blinds have standard 100mm side turns.

A similar style to our full panel roman blind (RB4) but the intermediate (base edge of each stack) is a soft fold without a seam. Hence this style has less horizontal seams than the RB4 style blind. When the blind is fully raised horizontal seams can not be seen.
Like the RB4 style, this blind is ideal for wider width windows if you’d like to avoid vertical fabric joins.

Our blinds are chain operated providing smooth, consistent and reliable movement.
Chain colour options available include:
The chain is secured to a wall mounted chain tensioner by your installer, to ensure child safety regulations are met.
The blind brackets and chain drive will be the same colour as the plastic chain or colour matched to the fabric if a nickel or stainless steel chain is used. A clear chain tensioner will be supplied. For recessed blinds we can also provide white, birch white, or black round shaped tensioners, on request.
If you prefer a blind without a chain, you can add motorisation to your blind also ideal for hard to reach blinds. Spring operation is also available for some blind styles.

BQ offer the following channel quilting methods:
The recommended quilting method depends on the size of the finished product, width and fabric (plain or patterned) used and required channel direction. All our channel quilting methods have the same filling and lining options mentioned below.
Multi-needle quilting is our most common channel quilting method and our most affordable quilting style.
Straight evenly spaced lines are quilted on the length direction of the fabric, to create channels.
Channels can be sewn in a vertical or horizontal direction. Recommended for products using a coloured quilting thread rather than black or natural and for bedspreads and quilt covers using patterned fabric that is not easily pattern matched.
Maximum quilting area is 304cm wide x 279cm length. Some king size bedspreads may need to be outline or multi-needle channel quilted, due to restrictions on the sewing frame size.
A straight line of stitching traces along the check or stripe pattern of the fabric, emphasising the fabric pattern and providing greater stitching accuracy as compared to other quilting methods. Recommended for king size bedspreads that may be too large for frame quilting.

Emphasises the pattern on your floral, plaid or check fabric.
Our machinest traces a line of stitching around the fabric pattern. Recommended for patterns not too busy and not too spread out across fabric.

Semicircle shaped bedhead with plain front and no side seams.
Bedhead shapes available: 10 only.
Suitable Fabrics:
We recommend a durable, stain resistant and easy to clean fabric suitable for upholstery use. Also consider the possibility of fabric fading if bedhead is positioned near a window.
BQ can manufacture this bedhead style with plain or print fabrics, vinyls, leathers and suede, although stripe fabrics not recommended. We can also quilt your fabric prior to upholstering for added interest. View our quilting styles.
To avoid vertical fabric join seams BQ recommend wide width fabrics or railroading fabric (turning sideways), where fabric/pattern allows. Fabric railroading is not usually required for Single sized bedheads unless you prefer the look of railroaded fabric.
Where fabric joins are present, BQ will always attempt to pattern match print fabrics to minimise exposure of joins.

Our standard BQ window valance is made with box pleats evenly spaced across the facade and front corners of the window valance. Pleats are positioned approximately 50cm apart depending on total width of window valance and a 15cm headboard projection is used, unless otherwise specified. Maximum drop is 50cm.
Window valances can also be made with a centre pleat and front corner pleats only or with a plain facade and box pleats in front corners only.
The plain facade style is recommended for smaller windows or windows with a blind and window valance in same print fabric.
A padded pelmet, available in straight or shaped styles.
Made with 4.5mm piping along top and base edge of pelmet, in self or contrast fabric. Piping can be omitted on request although it is recommended for shaped pelmets as gives a neater base finish. Piping can also be replaced with decorative cord.
Combine with curtains, roman blinds or roller blinds.
The quilt cover is top stitched to create a self fabric flange edge or a separate flange can be added in self or contrast fabric.
BQ’s standard flange size is 8cm, or specify a different flange size.
Your quilt cover fabric can be quilted to add further interest. Face side only is quilted, unless otherwise requested. If adding a top stitched self fabric flange, the flange will also be quilted. If adding a separate flange in self or contrast fabric the flange will be unquilted. View our quilting styles.
Also decorative cord can also be added to flange edges.
Single sized unquilted bedspreads can be made with standard width (140cm) fabrics. For all other quilt cover sizes, wide width fabrics are recommended to avoid fabric joins. Fabrics will be pattern matched at joins on quilt cover face side. Side seams can be pattern matched on request, if fabric pattern allows. Additional fabric may be required.

Polyesters, polyester/cotton mixes and pre-shrunk cottons wash well and are common fabrics used for bedding. Natural fabrics such as cottons and linens breath well but may shrink over time if not pre-shrunk. Linens are especially popular for a relaxed look. Sheer and velvet fabrics are not suitable for quilt covers.
If adding contrast fabric to underside of your quilt or using for piping, consider the composition and behaviour of this fabric as compared to the face fabric.
The following fabric options are available for the underside of the quilt cover: same as face fabric, contrast fabric, customer supplied flat sheet or BQ provided ivory cotton lining.
Cotton or bumph interlining in white or ivory colour is recommended for silks, sheers and lightweight fabrics. The addition of interlining placed behind the face fabric, helps reduce the chance of fabric discolouring, gives a truer colour to the face fabric and reduces obvious seams when fabric can’t be railroaded.
Add 4.5mm or 7mm piped edges to your quilt cover in either self or contrast fabric.
Decorative cord can also be added to quilt cover edges, as an alternate to piping.

The blind operates by either a battery or electrical operated motor, installed in tube hidden behind blind headboard and controlled by remote control, wall switch or smart phone. An alternate to cord or chain operated blinds.
Stiffened roller blinds provide you with an opportunity to integrate laces, sheer or solid plain or print fabrics into your room.
Our stiffened roller blinds are unlined, so the original transparency of your fabric is maintained.
A large range of fabrics can be used for stiffened roller blinds. For the best result, we recommend open weave fabrics and soil resistant coated fabrics should be avoided. Your fabric can be tested for suitability prior to ordering.
Some fabrics may be a shade darker after stiffening. If adding self fabric binding to your blind, this fabric will not be stiffened and colour may vary to the blind.
For wider windows, vertical fabric joins will be sewn if required and print fabrics will be perfectly pattern matched. Blinds installed on adjoining windows will also have fabric pattern matched.
For multiple blinds in a room, print fabric will be pattern matched from base of blind. If butting or adjoining blinds are to have pattern flow please notify BQ and ensure enough fabric is provided.
“L” shaped adjustable metal bedhead legs can be easily attached to the back of all bedhead styles (except BH1), at time of installation. The legs improve bedhead stability and avoid the need to attach the bedhead to plasterwork. If bedhead is to sit on floor, consider adding base cut-out if available.
